When planning a trip, it’s important to set the wheels in motion for a great vacation.

For millions, that means making sure it’s an accessible destination.

Travelers with certain mobility needs should check out Portugal.

The country has become the first to get the award of “Accessible Tourism Destination 2019,” according to travel site Lonely Planet.

The outlet says Portugal received the title because of its efforts to promote tourism accessibility; making it a place that’s accessible for everyone.

It’s something the government has backed since 2016.

Think accessible itineraries, accessible roadmaps and an accessible beach program.

Travel Media Daily says right now, 116 accessibility projects get funding to the tune of over $22 million dollars.

The accessible tourism destination award was given to Portugal by the UN World Tourism Organization in partnership with Spanish nonprofit Fundación ONCE.

Barcelona, Spain and Thrissur in India also got special recognition for steps taken to host tourists of all abilities.

Back in the states, publications like 101 Mobility, New Mobility and Access2Mobility recently named Washington D.C., Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon as some of the most accessible cities.
