A CRUISE THROUGH THE GOLDEN AGE OF SPICE TRADE,The hop-on hop-off boat service is the first of its kind in the country and traverses the hotspots in the erstwhile Muziris region, the hub of Kerala's ancient spice trade. The service includes three fully air-conditioned boats that can carry 25 passengers each.
The places covered in the circuit are Paravur Visitor's Centre (Jetty),Sahodaran Ayyappan Museum,Manjumatha Church,Pallipuram Fort,Paliam Kovilakom (Kerala History Museum),Kottappuram Fort, built by the Portuguese in 1523, played a significant role in the wars between the Zamorins of Kozhikode and the rulers of Kochi. It was later captured by the Dutch, following a heavy fight in which the fort was all but destroyed,Kerala Jews History Museum (Paravur Synagogue).Muziris welcomes you to the cape of trade culture, left behind by its ancestors from around the world, to the waves of Azhikode where Christianity first entered India, to the Cheraman mosque, which gave out the first Muslim call for prayers, to the Bharani festival at the Kodungallur Bhagavathy temple, to the original culture of the Jewish synagogue, to the village where handlooms spin thinks of heritage, to the Palium palace and to the old waterways that led one to Muziris.
