Goa is well known for its celebrations and its festivities. Amidst various western influences this festival takes back to the Portuguese era. The festival that brings colors, music, drama, costumes and importantly masks. Forty days before the Easter this festival is celebrated, as this is the last festival before people from Christian religion go for fast. The meat which was stored will be distributed amongst people. In western countries the root of this festival can be found there. The mask has a beautiful secret behind it, there has to be lot of political role plays during parades and processions. Just to hide the identity of the person the masks were used which is also called free expression. There was some years of gap before liberation but then it again started in 1965 i.e. four years after the liberation of Goa. The festival invites huge number of locals, indian and foreign tourists to Goa.
