This was mainly a trip to Nazare, Portugal, to see the biggest surf on earth. But while I was over there it seemed like a good idea to check out the rest of the country as well. After all, Portugal is not that big. So I drove my little rental car over 1,700 miles to every corner of Portugal over nearly 3 weeks. With a side trip to Spain and Gibraltar too (those pics not included here).
Portugal seemed to me like a mixture of the best parts of Spain and Italy, with beautiful scenery, great food, wine and music, and some of the friendliest and most helpful people in Europe. As if all that is not enough, travel is pretty inexpensive here; your travel dollar goes much further in Portugal than anywhere else I've been in western Europe!
