We left our means of transportation up to chance (bus or train), and fate had us taking the bus from Albufeira to Faro, Portugal. We learned that you have to press the button on the bus for your stop or it might not stop. After a short walk to our hotel, we dropped off our backpacks and headed out. We visited the ornamental Igreja do Carmo, a 18th-century Catholic church. It included the Capela dos Ossos de Faro, a compact chapel built from the bones of Carmelite monks, featuring more than 1,000 skulls.

There are some good, inexpensive restaurants at the Mercado Municipal de Faro. The old downtown and marina area are colorful places to visit. We also stumbled upon a major fair taking place. A sign stated "Feira de Santa Iria 2022". Overall a great first day in Faro.
