Day 1: walking trip of the city center – we walked over 25,000 steps.

We woke up in the morning early. We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Vincci Baixa (R. do Comércio 32 38, 1100-150 Lisboa, Portugal) during our entire trip.

We walked up north for a few blocks from the Vinci Baixa hotel to Confeitaria Nacional (Praça da Figueira 18B, 1100-241 Lisboa, Portugal) to have breakfast. We were pumped for this place as it’s famous for huge selections of pastries. The pastries were delicious as we anticipated.

After the breakfast, we walked to Praça Dom Pedro IV (95-9, 1100-193 Lisboa, Portugal) because it was a square/plaza across the street from the Confeitaria Nacional.

Then, we walked about 10 minutes to Praça do Comércio (Commercial Plaza, 1100-148 Lisboa, Portugal).

After spending some time at the Commercial Plaza, we walked about 10 minutes to have a shot of Ginjinha, which is a cherry liquor at A Ginjinha (Largo São Domingos 8, 1100-201 Lisboa, Portugal).

After having a shot of Ginjinha, we walked about 15 – 20 minutes to visit Pink Street (R. Nova do Carvalho, 1200-019 Lisboa, Portugal).

Lunch @ O Trevo:
We then walked about 10 minutes to have lunch at O Trevo (Praça Luís de Camões 48, 1200-283 Lisboa, Portugal). This restaurant is very busy because of their famous pork sandwich. It is also a plus that it’s located right across the street from the Praça Luís de Camões (quaint city square with monumental statue of the legendary 16th-century poet - Largo Luís de Camões).

After such a satisfying lunch, we headed over to Igreja de Santo Antonio (St. Anthony’s Church - Largo de Santo António da Sé, 1100-401 Lisboa, Portugal). On the way there, we bumped into a beautiful floral photo wall by the Museu de Lisboa Santo António (Museum of Saint Anthony - Largo de Santo António da Sé 22, 1100-534 Lisboa, Portugal).

Next stop, only 2-minute walk, was Sé de Lisboa (Lisbon Cathedral - Largo da Sé, 1100-585 Lisboa, Portugal).

Then, we headed to a scenic viewpoint at Castelo de São Jorge (St. George Castle Viewpoint - R. de Santa Cruz do Castelo 1A, 1100-335 Lisboa, Portugal).

We then next walked to Miradouro de Santa Luzia (Largo Santa Luzia, 1100-487 Lisboa, Portugal), which is another very popular viewpoint of the city.

Our last stop of the intense walking trip of the day was Panteao Nacional (National Pantheon - Campo de Santa Clara, 1100-471 Lisboa, Portugal). It’s a 17th-century baroque church turned into modern-day mausoleum for tombs of national celebrities.

Dinner @ Santelmo Restaurante café (R. do Poço dos Negros 188, 1200-425 Lisboa, Portugal):
We took the classic old tram from the National Pantheon to Santelmo Restaurant Café for dinner. The steak and octopus were awesome, and the house wine was so refreshing after full day of walking all over the city.

Stay tuned for day 2!
