The Lisbon Oceanarium, a 5 minute walk from the hotel we stayed at. But? what is so special about this oceanarium? Check out the unusual creatures in my reel. @OceanarioLisboa
We thought it would be a good idea to visit considering we were exploring the area of Oriente. Dont forget to do the cable car which is situated next to the oceanarium. Took us about 2 hours to do the entire oceanarium and the cablecar on one morning.. There arent as many activities inside the Oceanarium, as our very own @ushakamarineworld in DURBAN, but it was worth a stroll discovering some very unusual sea life.
The Lisbon Oceanarium is special for several reasons:
Size and Design: It's one of the largest indoor aquariums in Europe, with a main tank holding 5 million liters of seawater. The building itself is designed to resemble an aircraft carrier and is set in an artificial floating lagoon, and it is all emcompassed in one square block.
Diverse Marine Life: Home to over 16,000 marine animals from 450 different species, including sharks, rays, seahorses, and even a sunfish.
Educational and Conservation Efforts: The Oceanarium is a leading center for ocean conservation and education, promoting sustainability and marine life protection.
Exhibits and Activities: It features themed exhibits like the North Atlantic rocky coast, Antarctic coastal line, and Tropical Indian coral reefs, providing a comprehensive view of various marine habitats.
Visitor Experience: With its stunning architecture and immersive exhibits, it offers a memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
I thoroughly just enjoyed watching the animal life, very therapeutic and fun. Lots of seating space inside. The restaurant also offers a good menu of seafood to choose from.
