Day 1 of my Camino: Porto, Portugal to Esposende, Portugal

I started my actual Camino today. From my hotel, I, hesitantly, started riding out of the city winding in and out of the traffic in the city and onto the outskirts until I hit the ocean. I kept the words of the guys at the bike shop "Keep the ocean to your left, if it's not on the left, you are going the wrong way" Wise words. Rain and sun kept fighting for its time of the day so it was hard for me to decide how I should be dressed. I decided to just keep the raingear and if it gets too hot I can just take it off.
I have to say, I am not a big fan of riding on cobblestones. I used to ride on them in my hometown of Sacramento Ca but not this much. I think half of the whole trip was on cobblestone pavement. It was very jarring on the body and brain lol! Along the way, I made a turn into a wooded area and ended up in an area where there was some construction, and riding around it was not an option. It made for some muddy situation which I carried with me till I got to the hotel. I just couldn't present myself to the lobby in that filthy attire so I had to hose off before entering. It was such a delight to be this close to the sea. Hearing the waves coming in and out and the cool weather made for a good night's sleep. Not to mention the good food from a nearby restaurant.
