Just 40 mins outside of Portugal City Center is a beach getaway you NEED to see and experience. Head toward the city of Setúbal only 40 mins by car. Stay in Palmela at the Pousada Do Palmela, a castle on the hill. We got a suite for $250 USD per night and it was what you would call an authentic, luxury experience! Palmela and the Setúbal harbour have all kinds of restaurants. Spend the day at Arrabida Natural Park - FREE - just know where parking is and there is a bus that will take you into the park. We drove and walked. Take the ferry to Troia - a luxury beach getaway for the locals. There were very few tourists and the beaches are spectacular, lots of food and shopping options and only a 30 minute ferry ride from Setúbal Harbour. The Roman Ruins in Troia will also add to the experience!
