A Estalagem da Serreta é um edifício emblemático da ilha Terceira, nos Açores. Situada na freguesia da Serreta, no município de Angra do Heroísmo, a estalagem foi projetada pelo arquiteto João Correia Rebelo e inaugurada em 1964.

A estalagem é um exemplar único da arquitetura modernista portuguesa, caracterizada pelas suas formas orgânicas e integração na paisagem natural. O edifício está implantado num terreno com vista para o mar, e a sua forma curva acompanha o declive do terreno. A fachada é revestida a pedra basáltica, material tradicional da construção açoriana.

A Estalagem da Serreta foi palco de um importante evento histórico: a cimeira luso-franco-americana que reuniu os presidentes Marcelo Caetano, Georges Pompidou e Richard Nixon em dezembro de 1971.



Após o encerramento da atividade hoteleira em 1982, a estalagem esteve em estado de abandono durante vários anos. Em 2007, foi classificada como Imóvel de Interesse Público pelo Governo Regional dos Açores.

Em 2019, a estalagem foi adquirida por um grupo de investidores privados que pretendem reabilitá-la e transformá-la num hotel de luxo. As obras de recuperação estão em curso e a previsão é que a estalagem reabra as suas portas em 2023.

A Estalagem da Serreta é um importante símbolo da história e da cultura açoriana. A sua recuperação será um contributo para o desenvolvimento turístico da ilha Terceira e para a preservação do património arquitetónico dos Açores.

The Serreta Inn is an emblematic building on Terceira Island, in the Azores. Located in the parish of Serreta, in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, the inn was designed by architect João Correia Rebelo and inaugurated in 1964.

The inn is a unique example of Portuguese modernist architecture, characterized by its organic forms and integration into the natural landscape. The building is located on a plot of land overlooking the sea, and its curved shape follows the slope of the terrain. The facade is covered in basalt stone, a traditional material in Azorean construction.

The Serreta Inn was the scene of an important historical event: the Luso-Franco-American summit that brought together Presidents Marcelo Caetano, Georges Pompidou and Richard Nixon in December 1971.

After the closure of the hotel activity in 1982, the inn was in a state of abandonment for several years. In 2007, it was classified as a Property of Public Interest by the Regional Government of the Azores.

In 2019, the inn was acquired by a group of private investors who intend to rehabilitate it and transform it into a luxury hotel. The recovery works are underway and the inn is expected to reopen in 2023.
