Hey there!
A year ago I decided quite spontanously to fly over to Portugal. I have always loved the country even tho I've never been there. I also really wanted to surf and I had just a bit over a week of "free time" before I'd start to backpack the balkans with Claire. I told my friend about this and she decided to join me. So there we went on our mini vacation. We saw a lot of Lisbon, even tho there's still so much left to see (but we will be back) and we spend 5 lovely days in Peniche surfing and chilling on the beach every day! It was amazing and hopefully this video will provide you with some ideas of what to do in Portugal, where to go, or just inform you about the culture of this country.
Hostel in Lisbon
- Urban garden hostel (2 nights)
- 10,8€/night/person
It was located pretty near the center (we walked everywhere), the busstation was just around the corner and the metro was a 3min walk away. The hostel was cozy and had a good hanging out area. All in all good, we didn't stay that long tho so can't say much.
Hostel in Peniche
Surf Lodge 1 (4 nights)
- 20€/night/person
I found it quite expensive, but the hostel was really nice with a great hang out area.So maybe worth the extra price. You felt like in an apartment with friends and the owners drove to the beach every morning taking blankets and games with them so you wouldn't be bored if the surf was bad. Only issue I'd say was that they discouraged me from surfing since I didn't book a lesson with them. They also wouldn't rent me the board size I wanted which I thought was not so nice. Met lovely people there tho so can't complain.
