Portugal Set To Open Its Borders To Tourists
Portugal will soon open its borders for tourists from a selected number of countries, mostly for the EU Member States and Portuguese speaking countries.

In an interview with the Portuguese media outlet, Observador , the Minister of Foreign Affairs Augusto Santos Silva said that tourists will soon be eligible to enter the country.

In a headline statement that “Tourists are welcome in Portugal,” According to the Minister... travellers that may soon enter the territory of Portugal include... nationals of countries from the Schengen Area, other than Italians and Spaniards... visitors from Canada, Brazil, United States of America, and Portuguese speaking countries.

arrivals by air would be subject to health checks but not a compulsory quarantine... ...although a date has not yet been announced by the national government

In addition to Minister Santo Silva’s statements, some Portuguese regional tourist boards, including Madeira and Porto Santo, are due to reopen to international tourists from 1 July travellers must present negative test results from within 72 hours prior to departure or be tested on arrival, paid for by the local government


Flights will be permitted from all countries in the European Schengen travel zone except Spain and Italy, plus the UK, US, Canada, Brazil and a handful of other Portuguese-speaking countries. Flights are already running to Portugal’s three major airports, and more airlines are resuming routes soon. Limited flights are already operating between London and Lisbon, other international flights are likely to begin operating again after 15 June (including outside the EU).

Beaches and campsites are open. restaurants and bars in many regions are Allowed to reopen at a reduced capacity.

Several EU and Schengen member states continue to announce that they would be opening their borders to the nationals of other fellow member states for non-essential entry. ...And more are announcing, like Portugal, that they are opening to all tourism bit-by-bit
