Portugal Assures Tourist With Travel Insurance Scheme & Safety Assurances

Portugal Entices Travellers with Safety & Insurance: Portugal Travel Insurance Scheme Amid Coronavirus

Portugal has launched its travel insurance scheme for international tourists amidst Coronavirus outbreak.

Portugal is now offering foreign tourists a travel health insurance that comes with COVID-19 cover.

It is a major step to ensure safe and secure travelling and also to boost the tourism sector.

This latest program has been promoted by RNA Seguros de Assistência, and all interested persons can get detailed information online.

It provides cover for medical, surgical, hospital and pharmaceutical expenses, as well as expenses of cancellation, interruption, or extension of travel due to the pandemic and, will be available in the whole country.

This assures travellers that they can visit Portugal without worrying.

The movement comes in an effort to revive the tourism sector, which has been greatly affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

In an effort to limit the infection, the authorities have enforced general behaviour guidelines where people must adopt a social distance.

The use of face masks is mandatory in public transport and services, shops and supermarkets, in closed spaces or in places with many people.

In Madeira, the use of a mask is mandatory in all public places, closed or open.

Turismo de Portugal also implemented “Clean & Safe” seal which allows tourists to have greater security and confidence in the use of accommodation establishments, in the various tourist services and tourist attractions.

It is not necessary to present the COVID-19 Test on these flights unless the destinations are the archipelagos of Madeira or the Azores.

There are still a large number of EU/Schengen countries that do not permit or do not recommend travel to Portugal.

Portugal is on the UK's quarantine list and there are talks that Portugal could be removed from the list and placed on to the green list of countries that you need not quarantine.

Portugal has made a lot of progress but the process for dropping quarantine is far more gradual, where we monitor progress in weeks rather than days.

It is thought that large numbers of travellers from the UK are already flouting the FCO's advice against all but essential travel, and are visiting Portugal anyway.

In April, Portugal’s government supported the work of the European Commission, Member States and other European Union institutions in their joint effort to find an ambitious European recovery plan, in a “spirit of unwavering solidarity”, to help Europe recover from the damaged caused by the deadly virus.
