SAGRES is a small, little known town in the ALGARVE in PORTUGAL which is well-worth a visit. Besides the incredible surf and long sandy beaches, imposing cliffs and cheap but delicious seafood, SAGRES is also the place where Prince Henry the Navigator held court and developed a school for sailors in 1418. This school for sailors can be said to have launched the age of exploration. If you're visiting Lagos, you can easily factor in a day trip to Sagres.
