High temperatures blast some parts of Portugal

(15 Jul 2020) Portugal is experiencing a heatwave with temperatures reaching up 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) in some parts of the country.
The combination of high temperatures and strong dry winds have also put the whole country under high risk for possible wildfires.
In the capital Lisbon, temperatures are expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius (96.8 Fahrenheit) until the end of the week while inland regions should have temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius.
The heatwave comes as the country is entering its tourism season with only a few visitors amidst the coronavirus crisis.
Masks are only mandatory indoors and both residents and tourists have expressed relief over not having to wear them outside in the heat.
Portugal has 47,426 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 1,676 deaths.
