After escaping Spain just before they shut down all of their ports and airports, we settle into a small apartment in Old Town Lisbon, Portugal. Our original plan was to spend nearly three weeks taking in the sights of Lisbon and the surrounding area. Unfortunately the COVID-19 lockdown led to other plans for us.

We spent a few days strolling through town and along the waterfront, hiked up the hill to the castle (which was closed), ate some fantastic meals and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Then the U.S. State Department raised it's travel advisory to the highest level. We had to decide whether to rent a house in Portugal and wait out the pandemic overseas, or book a last minute flight home and try to get back to the U.S.
