Amazing and well worth day trip to the Berlengas off the coast of Peniche where you see some Portuguese history and visit a world UNESCO site with lots to explore. Berlenga Grande is home to the Fort of São João Baptista dating back to the late 1600s where brave, outnumbered Portuguese soldiers defended against attacks from Spain among others.
